Mickey's drag racing weekend
What a rush. Off up to Dyno Speed Development in Essex to pick up my Hayabusa in time to practice for 1st round of Streetfighters Challenge coming up this Sunday. Its had a 1428 big bore, high compression race pistons, Yoshimura high lift race cam shafts, full flow fuel pump, Akropovic full titanium race exhaust system, full stage 2 air box mods, Power Commander 3, Dyna 2000 ignition, Dyna Tech twin fire performance coils, pair system removed Schnitz 2 progressive nitrous controller, accellerated fuel injection box with 17 degree automatic ignition retard unit when nitrous applied, Barnett racing clutch and springs, lowered front end with dumbells and billet lowering jack bones on rear...11inch over swinging arm...couldn't wait to pick it up.

Travelled down with Ritchie in his van, towing low loader trailer to pick up Naz with his new trike...arrived at Dynospeed with Ritchie to hear the lovely wail of my busa in the dyno room...top tuner Bradley O' Connor was looking particularly pleased with himself...with grumpy and Mark Fischer some of the top 3 drag race riders in the country grinning from ear to ear...my busa had made over 208 hp at the back wheel normally aspirated (that means without nitrous ) then came the gas set up...straight up to nearly 250 hp but the new Barnett clutch wasn't having it this time...they adjusted it and strapped it down hard but at 160mph the back wheel just span in fourth ( 6 gears ) and continued to spin... the clutch was slipping and Brad offered me some spacers to maximise the uprated clutch racing springs further...made nearly 250 at the back wheel but it wasn't working right...ok over to Mark Fisher...supercharged nitrous busa? sounded nice doors shut any way back home with busa...
Met up with Naz picked up his trike...( Ritchie drove all this way for us pair of idiots on his day off !!! ) we put it in trailer, nice guy Naz swapped the trike with total respect a true biker...then we set off, a quick meal at chippie, then off we went Sat Nav !!! absolutely sound even had Naz the non believer put away his map and compass away no more grid references from him ! we drove back to Wolverhampton...
Ritchie went back to Wales, we unloaded the trike with Big Steve, who arrived promptly, and we went to the local pub...it was St Patrick's night and Naz had £2 so we left him with his £2 and drank the rest of our cash then Naz came back to mine and crashed !!!...
Next up call Ritchie back all is not done !!! bring AV gas... bring van... bring me and my busa from my moaning mummys house to the drag strip...an arrival, my mother moaning, a forced start on the busa then a drag start to make sure all was good before we went up my mum's road with no helmet to the total amusement of all who were asleep or watching... 209 hp on cold tyre on tarmac produced a very big black line...for start to 70 mph ish...he, he...
ANY WAY... busa stuffed in Ritchies van, taken to Stratford...bike out 3 in front...Mickey dossed out in back! got there "Shit! no tools!" bought them at Sunday market! thru the gates 3 people admission YES! Mickey asleep under the busa! got there new seat and tail unit...just been sprayed! did it fit? NO ! did Ritchie, Steve and I make it fit? yes !!!
Right, time to race...went up 1st run not feeling right. 2nd run lanyard hit kill switch cut off mid term. 3rd run ok, but bad clunk from transmission...time to adjust chain...4th run 10.4 not bad but backed off due to clunk on transmission...chain adjusted again 5th run lets do 300 plus hp with nitrous...off the line 1st with clunk...2nd ok, 120mph hit the gas...chain off and hit me on my back...
Home time and back to the drawing board.
